Poetry’s Burden

bent at the knees
and holding his back,
aged poetry ambles
restlessly but steadily
across the lonely desert,
leaving a trail of oases
in his wake,
so other travelers
may quench their thirst

  1. Written from your own perspective but very well applicable to all of us who love poetry. The figurative language is breathtaking and the imagery is so wonderful it makes me visualize just as you write. Your poetry is getting better by the day.

    1. Thank you, my friend, for your generous words. I imagined how poetry travels great distances to provide some of us such oases. I, myself, often find solace in the beautiful poetry I have found here in blog world.
